Beth’s baking brings joy to care homes
Date 8 October 2024
It started as a hobby during lockdown, making cakes and sweet treats to cheer up her colleagues throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
But now, Care Connection Partners’ General Manager Beth MacLeod-Birch has found her culinary skills are in regular high demand as she bakes for care homes and clients across the country.
Beth’s tasty treats range from cupcakes or cakes for care home summer fairs, occasional birthday cakes for residents upon request, and biscuits for gift bags or hampers at special occasions throughout the year, including Christmas and Valentine’s Day.
The gesture from Care Connection Partners is another way of us showing our love and care for those we work with as we continue to expand across England.
Beth said: “My love of baking started during lockdown and I later brought cakes into the office to show some love and cheer people up.

“It has expanded from there and we started creating nice gift bags and hampers to take into the care homes we support.
“We fill them with lots of different treats for our managers and contacts, and often lucky dips and little toys for the residents. It’s all part of our #feelthelove ethos which runs throughout the business.”
Beth has so far made six cakes and about 300 cupcakes for care home summer fairs this year.
Some of the buns, cakes and biscuits have been branded with our trademark blue and pink colours or the company logo, or she has used pink and blue cupcake cases and paper toppers as finishing touches.
Beth also made a cake for a care home summer fair and it was used to help raise funds for its residents’ fund, as attendees made a donation to guess the weight of the cake.

Beth said: “We thought baking would be nice a nice way to support them, and they could even raffle some of the boxes of cupcakes off to raise more funds for the residents if they wanted to.
“The most popular flavour is lemon and poppyseed with homemade lemon curd. It gives me a lot of pleasure to know it makes a difference to people. Lots of the people we work with in the care sector have very difficult jobs, and I hope this helps them to know we’re thinking of them.”
Beth and the team are now planning Christmas hampers for their clients and partners, potentially including homemade gingerbread.
Beth added: “We’ll keep doing it for as long as our clients and partners wish. We’ve even gone as far as making vegan brownies and biscuits, and we can cater for dietary requirements if we’re aware in advance.”
