Care Connection carer’s award for transforming resident’s life

Date 14 July 2025

One of our fantastic carers has been recognised for his outstanding dedication in his role and praised for significantly improving the life of a care home resident.

Olu Gbaja-Biamila, who has been part of the Care Connection Partners family since 2021, works at Beverley Parklands Care Home, in Beverley.

He provides one-to-one support for one of the residents at the home, which is run by East Yorkshire Care Home provider Yorkare Homes – one of our partners.

Olu was presented with an Employee C.A.R.E Award at the home’s quarterly awards for upholding Yorkare’s values and going above and beyond in his role.

C.A.R.E stands for ‘caring, accountable, respectful and engaged’, and Beverley Parklands Manager Sammi Atkin said Olu lives and breathes these qualities.

This is the first time a carer from a healthcare recruitment agency has won one of Yorkare’s awards.

Olu was presented with his certificate at a special 80s-themed evening for residents and staff, which was also attended by our Group Relationship Manager Teressa Llewellyn and Bookings Coordinator Savannah Stock.

Olu, who won an award alongside three of his Beverley Parklands colleagues, said: “I was very surprised to receive the award because I didn’t expect it and I didn’t know until the night. I’m grateful to the Beverley Parklands staff and Yorkare for choosing me to receive it.

“It was lovely to see Teressa and Savannah from Care Connection Partners on the night. I really love working in care and I believe it is my calling.

“Care Connection Partners is a lovely agency to work for and I’m very proud to work for them.

“They have enabled me to do what I love and I enjoy making people happy.”

Beverley Parklands offers a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel part of a close-knit community.

The team combine exceptional care with all the comforts of home to create a space where everyone feels valued, supported, and connected.

Sammi said: “These awards are for anyone who goes above and beyond in what would normally be expected from a carer.

“Olu has changed this resident’s life and he is smiling and enjoying life again. We have seen such a difference in the resident since Olu has been supporting him and they have bonded so well.

“We reached out to Care Connection Partners to see if Olu could do more shifts for us and they have been so supportive.

“Olu has an infectious, positive energy and you can’t help but smile when he’s around. He makes such a difference to our team. He is so kind and welcoming to everybody and family members of other residents adore him too.

“He is everything you could ever want in a carer, he’s passionate about what he does and it’s more than just a job. Olu came to make a difference and he has definitely succeeded in that.”

Teressa said: “This is a massive achievement for Olu and this award also supports exactly what Care Connection Partners stands for in upholding core values and going above and beyond.

“Our whole business is built on #feelthelove and this is the perfect example of that. We’re so proud of Olu.”
