‘Care Connection Partners listen’: First staff drop-in surgery hailed a huge success
Date 10 September 2025
The first of our staff drop-in surgeries was a resounding success!
About 100 of our current staff attended the event at our head office in Hull throughout the day – and they embraced every moment.
The dedicated surgery was part of our ongoing work to encourage honest and open conversations about healthcare recruitment, make improvements and change perceptions within the sector.
It gave everyone who attended the chance to meet the whole team, alongside colleagues from our sister company My Caring, ask questions, make suggestions and share their thoughts openly in a safe space with their favourite music playing.
They also enjoyed some fantastic West African cuisine, including jollof rice, pepper soup, Nigerian barbecue chicken, suya beef, efo riro, or Nigerian spinach stew, and chip spice plantain chips, courtesy of our Business Development Manager James MacLeod-Birch, who is an experienced chef.
Not forgetting the dozens of amazing cupcakes made by our Office Manager, Beth MacLeod-Birch – which were all gone before the day ended!
Our partners from Evans & Co Certified Chartered Accountants, Humba Mortgages, Humba Financial Advisers and Connexin Academy also provided staff to offer advice on mortgages, insurance, pensions, financial planning, investments, careers and progression, apprenticeships and more.

We collected valuable feedback from attendees via an online survey too, which will be used to help us shape the future of our business, training, services we provide for our partners and support we offer our staff.
The whole event was underpinned by our #feelthelove ethos to include everyone and do the job properly, with transparency, honesty and integrity.
Deborah Stock, our founder and Managing Director, said: “I couldn’t be happier with the response we received at the first staff drop-in surgery, and I couldn’t be prouder of the whole team for organising such a brilliant event.
“It was amazing for our staff to come together in a relaxed environment, and talk openly about how we can all work even more closely to enable them to do their jobs properly.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves, and some even brought their families along, which was wonderful.
“#feelthelove sometimes needs some explanation, and part of that is showing our staff how grateful we are for them. It’s difficult to do that when they’re at work each day, so the drop-in surgery was the perfect way to demonstrate that and show them they’re part of our family.
“We can’t wait for our next surgery with our current partners, and all of this shows we’re listening.”

Care Assistant Janet Ahiagba said she thoroughly enjoyed the day, and she’s delighted to work for us.
She said: “When you come into the office, you don’t always see everyone, so it was great to meet everybody and have a moment of bonding.
“It created an opportunity to make more improvements in care and speak to the management about what they’re doing well, and what could be improved.
“I love working for Care Connection Partners, they always pay on time and I’m looking forward to more events like this in the future.”
Fellow Care Assistant Kanyinsola Oluwadamilare said: “I love my job and Care Connection Partners are helping me to grow and improve in a professional way.
“I do a lot of shifts, and I wish I could do more. The event created inclusion, and that’s important to me.”
Several members of staff attended the surgery wearing our trademark pink and blue colours, which created smiles among the whole team.

Moses Banjoko, one of our support staff, said: “It’s a very good idea to bring everyone together, allow them to meet everyone and express their thoughts.
“I’m so happy working for Care Connection Partners. The interaction is really good and they listen.”
Carer Joan Aboh was the very first carer to join Care Connection Partners.
She said: “We don’t all work together because we work different shifts in different places, so it was nice to see everyone.
“Deborah likes helping people, and we are all one. I’ve had several opportunities to leave and work for others but I always chose to stay because I’ve enjoyed working here since day one.”
Matt Evans, Managing Director and Financial Adviser at Humba Financial Advisers, said: “It was great to meet the whole team, and be able to offer financial advice while working in partnership with such an amazing company.
“It’s fantastic that they’re opening this up to their staff because they can have these informal chats without cost or having to think about booking an appointment.

“Whether it’s pensions, investments, mortgages, or other, they may not have thought about it without this opportunity at the drop-in surgery.”
The next surgery for our current partners will take place at our head office – 13 Hessle Road, Hull, HU3 2AA, from 10am to 4pm, on Wednesday, September 24.
