Date 23 October 2025

As part of our regular series highlighting the dedicated professionals working with Care Connection Partners, we sat down with Ikechukwu Nwogwugwu to hear about his experiences, training and life as a carer.

Ikechukwu Nwogwugwu.

Describe the specific training you’ve had from Care Connection Partners and what it has involved.

Through Care Connection Partners, I’ve completed a wide range of essential health and social care training. This has included practical manual handling, fire safety, food hygiene, infection control, safeguarding adults, the Mental Capacity Act, dementia awareness, health and safety, equality, diversity and human rights and conflict resolution.

The sessions were well-balanced, combining theory with hands-on practice. For example, manual handling involved practical demonstrations, safeguarding training featured scenario-based exercises, and dementia awareness was enriched with real-life case studies.

Beyond meeting compliance and legislation requirements, the training focused on best practices for real-world care situations.

How would you describe the level and quality of training you’ve received from Care Connection Partners?

The training has been excellent – thorough, engaging and easy to understand.

The trainers were both knowledgeable and approachable, taking the time to break down complex topics such as the Mental Capacity Act or conflict resolution into clear, practical steps.

The sessions felt comprehensive and well-structured, ensuring nothing important was overlooked.

In your experience, how does it compare in the sector?

In my opinion, the training provided by Care Connection Partners stands out as some of the best in the sector.

While many organisations offer mandatory training, Care Connection Partners goes further by making the experience interactive, practical and directly relevant to the realities of care work. That additional depth and focus on applied skills make a real difference.

How capable and confident do you feel working in the sector with Care Connection Partners?

I feel highly capable and confident in my role.

The training has given me not only a strong understanding of procedures and regulations but also the assurance to apply them effectively in day-to-day situations.

Whether responding to safeguarding concerns, managing infection risks, or supporting individuals with dementia, I feel well prepared to provide safe, respectful and high-quality care.
