Cheerleaders shine in sponsored kit at major USA competition

A cheerleader from Hull and her teammates have returned from a major international competition in the USA, enjoying the experience of a lifetime.

We were delighted to sponsor Ellie-Mae Bone, 18, and her fellow athletes, who travelled to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the Allstar World Cheerleading Championships last month.

Three teams from Hull’s JBCD Allstars club went head-to-head against the best cheerleaders in the world during the popular event.

Two of the three teams reached the final in their division, with the ‘Blackout’ team finishing ninth in the world against fellow cheerleaders competing at the same level, and Ellie-Mae’s team, Nuclear, finishing 20^th – an outstanding achievement!

We were delighted to contribute £250 towards Ellie-Mae’s fundraising target, which helped towards to cost of branded kit throughout their journey, ensuring the teams looked the part for this unique experience.

Ellie-Mae, who began cheerleading five years ago, said: “The competition is the best experience I’ve ever had. It felt like a different world when we were there.

“The competition was ten times bigger than anything we’ve done in the UK and I don’t think any other experience can top it.

“Without the sponsorship from Care Connection Partners and others, we wouldn’t have looked the part, and our jackets and t-shirts were gorgeous. We felt so confident and on top of the world.

“I want to say a massive thank you to Care Connection Partners for their support. They helped us to feel so special.”

JBCD Allstars train regularly at their base in Chamberlain Road, east Hull, and the USA competition follows previous national contests across the UK.

Ellie-Mae, who travelled to the USA with her parents, Annemarie and Matt, and sister Leila-Louise, 15, also took part in training camps during the trip, enabling the cheerleaders to practice their routine ahead of the competition.

Annemarie, Activity Coordinator, Speaking Up Guardian and Positive Behaviour Support Lead at Foxglove, one of our fantastic partners, said: “The venue was the size of about five arenas under one roof and the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was screaming and cheering.

“Every parent had tears in their eyes because we were all so proud.

“We’re so thankful to Care Connection Partners and all of the sponsors for their support. It was brilliant to see the teams in their branded clothing and it made it extra special when they were travelling and training.”
