Job success for Maxwell following work experience

Date 8 April 2025

The young man who is the main inspiration behind our business has secured a job in our Sales Team after completing three successful weeks of work experience.

Maxwell Stock, the son of our Founder and Managing Director Deborah Stock, suffered two catastrophic brain injuries in two separate accidents during his life.

Deborah was inspired to set up Care Connection Partners having witnessed first-hand how available care services should not be delivered and she wanted to ensure others received the correct support.

Now 18, Maxwell is completing a Uniformed Services course at college and will initially work as part of our team every Wednesday around his day off from studying.

Maxwell worked in each area of our business during his three-week placement, finding he enjoyed the Sales Team role most, and he is looking forward to hitting the ground running as a Trainee Business Development Manager.

Maxwell said: “I’m very proud to have been offered a job on the back of my work experience. I really enjoyed it and I really love the working environment. Now I’ll also get paid for it, which is even better!

“I enjoy speaking to people and I’ve learnt a lot through observing my colleagues during my work experience, including how to speak to people properly and match their energy. I can’t wait to get started.”

Maxwell’s work experience included an introduction to our business, observing research and identifying appropriate potential clients for calls, observing sales calls and taking part in his own mock call experience, and shadowing fellow team members on client visits.

He also recently helped to support and organise a unique event for young adults with severe learning disabilities and or autism, alongside fellow members of our team.

We invited students and their support workers from the Families for individual Need and Dignity (FiND) charity to view and sit in three cars – a Ferrari California, and a Renault Clio and a Volkswagen GTI which have been adapted for use at track and drag racing events.

We supply support workers to the charity, which has bases in Cottingham and Hessle.

Maxwell and James MacLeod-Birch, our Business Development Manager, regularly take part in these events with Kevin the Clio and Gazza the GTI.

Maxwell is unable to hold a full UK driving licence due to visual impairment following his accidents, which sees James regularly drive him to private, off road events across the region, giving him the supervised opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive automatic cars.

Maxwell, James and the team loved telling the students from FiND more about the cars and enabled those who were able to sit in them, rev the engines, beep the horns and wear the helmets.

The experience will also help to support the volunteering element of Maxwell’s college course.

David Bracken, Sales Team Manager at Care Connection Partners, said he is looking forward to Maxwell joining the team.

He said: “Maxwell is fearless and he has really impressed me with his willingness to learn and work.

“He listened to us and cracked on, which is essential in this job.

“In 20 years of working with young people who’ve come into the industry via apprenticeships, Maxwell in the top three of those I’ve ever worked with at this stage.

“He’s made a great first impression and it has nothing to do with the fact he is Deborah’s son! He has achieved this on his own merit and deserves every success.”
