Meet the Team with Dave Stock

Date 4 November 2024

Welcome to our new regular Meet the Team Q&A, introducing you to the lovely people behind Care Connection Partners.

Dave Stock is our Logistics Manager. We caught up with Dave to ask him about his role, what it means to him and why #feelthelove is at the heart of our business.

Dave Stock.

Tell us about your role and what it involves

I pick up our temporary workers from their homes on a weekend or bank holidays, particularly on Sundays when buses are much harder to come by. If they can’t get to work, they ring me.

I travel to Hull, Bridlington, Grimsby and everywhere in between at all hours of the day.

I was a long-distance lorry driver for 40 years, latterly transporting 100 tonne cranes, and I officially retired when I turned 70. But I didn’t and can’t really retire – I do too much! I’m 82 now and I still enjoy working.

What’s the best thing about your job and why?

I enjoy meeting different people and I aim to provide a good service for them. I’m reliable and a good timekeeper, and I clean my car almost every day.

This job gives me a purpose and gets me up, out and moving. I’ve never been out of work in my life; stopping now would kill me! I have to carry on.

I always make sure I’m there on time, if not before. It’s part of what I’ve done all my life.

Why do you love being part of the Care Connection Partners team?

I love that Care Connection Partners is my daughter Deborah’s firm and I can contribute a little bit towards it. She’s done very well and I’m really proud of her.

The team is great and my other daughter, Heather, works for Care Connection Partners too. Everybody gets on and works well together, which makes such a difference.

What does #feelthelove mean to you?

It means communication, and the way the whole team gets on well with everyone. They work well together but also with the temporary workers and clients.

Everyone is made to feel so welcome, and it shows across the whole business.

Tell us something about yourself which people may not know.

About 20 years ago, I used to work 100 hours per week and lived in my wagon. I had a day and a half off every three months and worked from 5am to 9pm for 10 years. That’s how much I was dedicated to my job.

I haven’t got any plans to stop yet. What would I do with myself?!
