Our Business Development Manager, James MacLeod-Birch, is in the hot seat as part of our regular Meet the Team Q&As, helping you to find out more about the fabulous people behind our business.

James MacLeod-Birch.
Tell us about your role and what it involves
I contact potential clients and help them to understand why they need to use Care Connection Partners, conveying our values and ethos.
I was initially brought on board to help expand the business in West Yorkshire when we opened our Leeds office, after working in hospitality for 25 years. Sales and customer service are very much transferable skills.
I carried out sales calls, recruitment and client management for the first two years, then we expanded substantially as a business and the team grew.
I’m still hands-on within the Bookings Team but I also spend time visiting clients with David, our Sales Team Manager, to grow the business further. This involves phone calls, emails, a lot of driving, meetings and knocking on doors.
Face-to-face interaction is imperative and helps potential clients to understand they will receive the best quality staff and they can rely on and trust us.
What’s the best thing about your job and why?
The people. I make the effort to get to know our staff, who they are and what they do. They’re not just a name on a list. I also get to know our clients and care home managers to build strong relationships with them.
I’ve always been happiest as the host of the party and looking after people is part of who I am, so I gravitate towards that area of the business most. I want our staff and clients to know they’re valued and being looked after.
Why do you love being part of the Care Connection Partners team?
I haven’t spent much time in an office environment during my career and it’s really nice that we’re a close-knit family.
Our Founder and Managing Director, Deborah, trusts us to get on with the job and do what we do best. She knows each one of us has a different approach, experience and skills to achieve the end goal.
What does #feelthelove mean to you?
It’s about looking after each other the way you want to be looked after yourself, going the extra mile and ensuring attention to detail to make other people feel valued. This applies to everyone across the whole business.
Tell us something about yourself which people may not know.
I’m going to go off-piste…I was a podium dancer in a club when I was a teenager! I didn’t last very long – just one summer – but it was a lot of fun and all my friends were there. It was a good laugh dancing for 45 minutes in a seventies outfit each week!
