Molly shines in dance fundraiser to support cancer patients

Date 26 May 2025

Care Connection Partners were delighted to support a Strictly Come Dancing-themed fundraising event to help cancer patients across Rugby and Coventry.

Molly Jones, the daughter of our Recruitment and Compliance Manager, Heather Jones, and niece of our founder and Managing Director, Deborah Stock, competed in the event with her dancer partner, Nathan Ward. Molly was one of the professional dancers.

Collectively, the participants raised more than £37,000 for Arden Angels, a charity set up by Tracie Mills to provide support and equipment to enhance the futures of patients and their families treated at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

Tracie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and underwent treatment but she has now been told her diagnosis is terminal. She initially hoped to raise £1,000 for one new chemotherapy chair at the Arden Centre, where Tracie and other patients are treated in Coventry.

Since then, and including the recent Strictly Pink 2025 – Dancing for Sam event, Tracie has surpassed her £200,000 target and made a difference to so many lives.

Participants in the event raised money in memory of Sam Pooler, who was a huge supporter of Tracie’s work and sadly passed away following her own battle with cancer.

Strictly Pink 2025 – Dancing for Sam was attended by 250 people, including a surprise appearance from actress Angela Ripon, who starred in series 21 of the hit BBC1 show Strictly Come Dancing.

We were pleased and proud to sponsor Molly £200 to help towards her own fundraising target and she raised a total of £698.

Molly, who has been dancing since 2022, previously took part in a similar dance event for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry, which provided respite for Molly’s daughter, Eliza, seven, who has cerebral palsy.

Molly said: “Twelve couples completed eight weeks of training for Strictly Pink 2025 – Dancing for Sam and I’m so proud to have taken part.

“Show night was very nerve-wracking but I love dancing and these events have helped me to face my fears.

“The energy when the doors open and you have to walk through the crowd with the music playing is incredible.

“It has been life-changing and the money raised was sensational. It meant I was Molly and not just mum for a little while, and I’m so happy for Tracie reaching her target.

“Receiving the donation from Care Connection Partners really helped me with my fundraising and was a complete surprise. I’m so grateful. It was an amazing night.”

The final total raised by the dancers is still being calculated as further donations are being made.
