Spotlight On – The Sales Team
Date 8 October 2024
Welcome to our spotlight on our wonderful Sales Team who work hand-in-hand to continuously develop the business and form long-lasting, trusted partnerships with care homes and clients across the country.
Business Development Managers James MacLeod-Birch, David Bracken and Nathan Glanville-Houghton bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to support the wider Care Connection Partners team.

Who’s in the team, what do they do and how do they see their role within the business?
The team prides itself on everyone pulling together for the same goal and purpose and they all hold the same job title of Business Development Manager.
James said: “I joined Care Connection Partners in August 2022 when the business first expanded to West Yorkshire. I was tasked with recruiting teams and finding new clients, which was a massive job. We expanded the team even further to compliment the business growing across the country.
“We’re always looking for opportunities for us to be part of potential clients’ businesses and change the perception of care agencies, building relationships with everyone from care home managers and owners to decision makers.
“Ninety per cent of our job involves knocking on doors and calling people, explaining we’d like to help them and show them how it’s done properly. We actually care and we don’t take every client available.”
David, who also spends some weekends driving the company’s temporary workers to their jobs, said: “We all help to develop the business, bring in new business and improve the footing of the company.
“Many care recruitment agencies are built on greed and self, but this business is built on team and people. We’ve all been successful at different stages but we either win or lose as a team. If the business succeeds, we all succeed.”
Nathan, who is the newest member of the team, having joined the business in August 2024, said: “David is a very good door opener and James is an excellent relationship manager who looks after people.
“Everywhere else I’ve worked at is all about profit but everything we do here is for the customer. I don’t know of any other company which doesn’t put targets on their sales team with finances, visits, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports. We receive wonderful support.
“I’m confident in what I’m selling because of the ethos behind the company and I want to see that success continue.”
How important is the team’s work for Care Connection Partners?
James said: “No part of the business can operate without all the other parts. There is no point in us getting 50 new clients if the staff aren’t there, and there is no point recruiting staff if the bookings team can’t manage that.
“We all work together to bring our own element of the business to the table. If one element isn’t there, the whole thing falls down.”
David said: “None of us are more important than the other. We can’t just go out and scattergun recruit, or employ people. We have to work as one big team.
“The Sales Team is very important but so is everybody else and none more so than the other. It’s like the perfect machine that works very well.”
How does the team epitomise #feelthelove?
Instilled by our Managing Director and Founder Deborah Stock, #feelthelove is what we base our whole being on. It’s our ethos, our drive and our commitment to delivering the best care and services possible.
Nathan said: “Feel the love is something that’s been missing from every other organisation I’ve worked for. I’ve always wanted all staff and clients to be treated right and we all feel the love.
“The difference is we all genuinely care. We’re all on the same page because we’re here to provide quality care and make a difference. Feel the love gives me pride in what I do and I’ve never worked for a recruitment agency where I’ve felt so proud.”
David said: “Feel the love is a direct mirror of what’s in Deborah’s heart. She wants us to directly represent that when we’re out and about and we’re always helping each other.
“My life has changed in a very good way because of the people I work with. These people want to better your life because they care and it makes you want to care more.”
James, whose background is originally in the hospitality industry, said: “I can’t do anything unless I’m proud of it and #feelthelove is what it says on the tin. If you look after other people, they will look after you and what you sew, you get back in spades. That’s why this model works.
“Deborah and I had a conversation about the difference between a pub lunch and a Michelin Star restaurant. You create that experience by going the extra mile for your staff and for each other. The small, finer details are what sets you apart.
“It’s taking staff to work, remembering their birthdays, celebrating with them, or helping them when they need support. We replicate that here and we’re one big family.”
